The 2022-2023 Varsity golf season ended in March. It started on September 27th at Shadow Glen Golf Club. Evan Taylor, Nolan Brown, Brody Holmlund, Jack Bell, and Nick Burratti played in the first tournament of the year.  Stony Point finished 4th out of 12 teams at the tournament. It wasn’t the perfect start for Stony Point but it was good to get the year underway.

Stony Point Varsity played a total of 9 tournaments, including Districts, during the year. Stony Point had 2 wins, and 1 other top 3 finish. These results are better than any Stony Point golf team in recent years. Stony Point won their first tournament of the year on November 11th at Delaware Springs. It was a trifecta event which means teams of 4, 6 holes scramble 6 holes best ball, and 6 holes alternate shot. Scramble is where all 4 players hit the shot and the team takes the best out of the 4, best ball is when 2 players play their own ball and take the best score for each hole, and the alternate shot is where 2 players alternate after each shot. The team of 4 was Evan Taylor, Nolan Brown, Brody Holmlund, and Anthony Landaverde. On February 28th at Shadow Glen Stony Point won another tournament. The winning team consisted of Evan Taylor, Nolan Brown, Brody Holmlund, and Jack Bell. Stony Point also placed 3rd at the Crystal Falls tournament on October 17th.

To end the year on March 28-29th Stony Point had their District Tournament. It is a two-day tournament where all teams from the district meet and see who advances. The top 2 teams advance, and the top 2 individuals not from the teams already moving on advance again. Evan Taylor, Junior, shot 75, 79 and after 2 playoff holes, he earned the 2nd alternate spot for the regional tournament. Nolan Brown shot 80, and 84, Brody Holmlund shot 89, and 82, and Justin Ngyuen shot 89, 92. These were the leading scores for the team. They finished 5th out of 8 teams in the district tournament.

The expectations for the 2023-2024 season are high with all Varsity players returning next year.  Even though Stony Point failed to advance to the regional or State tournament, it was still a successful and great year.
